Liu Yuhe, former Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: It is full of opportunities in North Africa

First Seminar on International Strategic Issues hosted by Golden Bridge on Silk Road International Think Tank was held in Beijing on January 10th. Liu Yuhe, former Director-General of the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, former Chinese Ambassador to Algeria and Tunisia and former Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, delivered a keynote speech about the development in the North Africa for private enterprises and communicated with entrepreneurs on site.

Director Liu Yuhe pointed out that the relationship between China and North African countries has entered the year of "knowing the destiny". The two sides have mutual political trust and economic mutual benefit. They are good partners and good examples of cooperation. At the international political level, China and North Africa have basically the same positions on international and major regional issues. The two sides maintain close communication and support each other. At the economic level, the areas of economic and trade relations between China and North Africa have been continuously expanded, and investment and capacity cooperation have continued to develop. China has signed capacity cooperation agreements with Algeria and Egypt, covering railways, ports, cement, power generation and construction. With the "One Belt, One Road" initiative proposed, the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Beijing Summit ended, and China-North Africa economic cooperation entered a "golden period."

 

At this meeting, Director Liu Yuhe also mentioned that the development of private enterprises in North Africa in the new era is full of new opportunities and new challenges. The complementarity of industries between China and North African countries and the ability of North African countries to undertake industrial transfer provide realistic possibilities for deepening bilateral investment cooperation. The development of private enterprises in North Africa needs to pay attention to the following points: First, private enterprises need to have an international vision and forward-looking when developing, fully grasps the strategic opportunities of the “Belt and Road”, and deeply understand the core concepts, basic principles and development of the “Belt and Road”. path. Second, with "hard power" and "soft power" and "smart power", with China's strong military and economic hard power; and the soft power of Chinese cultural influence, "smart strength" is the need for enterprises to fully combine hard power and Soft power, combined with local policies, to create corporate values and influence. Finally, private enterprises build a more complete risk prevention system and strive to avoid major risks, such as policy changes, local security, and operational risks. Practicing the "internal strength of going out" and stabilizing the international economic arena.

 

Finally, Director Liu Yuhe said that after 40 years of reform and opening up, China’s development and opening up will stand at a new starting point and will contribute to world peace and prosperity. Chinese enterprises will also stand in a new look. On the world stage, we will make greater contributions to promoting cooperation between China and various countries.
